Global Scal­ing Sound Generator

Why is music with a nice ambiance a plea­sure and pro­duces strong emo­tions in us? Not least because the har­monic sequence of a com­po­si­tion matches with the tim­ing of a phys­i­o­log­i­cal sen­sory process. That is, the musi­cal inter­vals are log­a­rith­mi­cally cal­i­brated, just as our senses.

We live in a log­a­rith­mic world. All our senses per­ceive the log­a­rithm of a sig­nal, not the lin­ear inten­sity of the sig­nal itself. That is why we mea­sure the vol­ume in deci­bels, a log­a­rith­mic unit. Tones, which fre­quen­cies are twice, four– or eight times higher or lower, we per­ceive as a, a’ or a”, as sim­i­lar sounds. This prop­erty of our hear­ing enables us to dis­tin­guish har­mony from dishar­mony. The har­mo­nious tone sequence 2/​1 (octave), 3/​2 (quint), 4/​3 (fourth), 5/​4 (third), etc. has hyperbolic-​​logarithmic scaling.

In a real media, the key tone, the over­tone and the under­tones are pro­duced simul­ta­ne­ously. This cre­ates con­so­nance and dis­so­nance. Not only is our hear­ing able to dis­tin­guish con­so­nance from dis­so­nance, this is an essen­tial phys­i­cal abil­ity of the mat­ter. It is about the expen­di­ture of energy which is nec­es­sary to pro­duce an over­tone. An octave is cre­ated most eas­ily (with min­i­mal energy expen­di­ture per oscil­la­tion period), because only one fre­quency dou­bling is needed to pro­duce an over­tone. Slightly more energy is required to gen­er­ate a quint 3/​2 or a fourth 4/​3, because it also requires a tripling or qua­dru­pling the fun­da­men­tal fre­quency. Even more energy is needed to pro­duce the small third 6/​5 with equal ampli­tude, and so on. That is, the musi­cal inter­vals in the spec­trum of oscil­la­tion modes are play­ing an ener­getic key role.

The unusu­ally long life­time of the pro­ton and the elec­tron is the rea­son that ordi­nary mat­ter con­sists of atoms. Atoms always con­tain the same num­ber of pro­tons and elec­trons. How­ever, each pro­ton is about 1836 times heav­ier than each elec­tron in an atom. There­fore, the atomic mass is more than 99 per­cent of the pro­ton or its excited state, the neu­tron. For this rea­son, pro­ton res­o­nances deter­mine the course of all processes and the orga­ni­za­tion of all struc­tures in the universe.

With an analy­sis of phys­i­o­log­i­cally impor­tant vibra­tional processes after global scal­ing, for exam­ple, the range of res­pi­ra­tory fre­quen­cies, the fre­quency spec­trum of the heart­beat, the spec­trum of human voice or the elec­tri­cal activ­ity of the brain, we can real­ize how impor­tant pro­ton res­o­nances for us and our health is.

An orches­tra or choir attunes to the stan­dard pitch, which was estab­lished at an inter­na­tional con­fer­ence of 1939 with 440 hertz. In sev­eral Euro­pean coun­tries in the 17th, 18th and 19th cen­tury there were still stan­dard pitches com­mon in the fre­quency range of 409 – 466 Hz. Regard­less of the inter­na­tion­ally accepted stan­dard of 440 hertz, now, how­ever, have also higher pitch fre­quen­cies nat­u­ral­ized, espe­cially because some string instru­ments sound at higher fre­quen­cies louder and fuller.

The fre­quency of the mod­ern stan­dard pitch is in the imme­di­ate vicin­ity of the pro­ton res­o­nance fre­quency of 453 hertz. From the Global Scal­ing point of view there­fore, the def­i­n­i­tion of the stan­dard pitch of 440 hertz is no acci­dent, but also the desire to increase the fre­quency is now understandable.

Even­tu­ally, the inter­na­tional music com­mu­nity will use decades to look­ing for the per­fect pitch, until the fre­quency of 453 Hz will become estab­lished as the final stan­dard pitch fre­quency.
